West Moreton Health offers comprehensive graduate programs that are designed to facilitate the transition of new graduates into their new roles.

Nursing and midwifery

West Moreton Health offers a comprehensive graduate program in nursing and midwifery. Our program is designed to facilitate the transition of new graduates into their roles as registered nurses or midwives.

The program enables the integration of knowledge and practical skills throughout a graduate’s first year of practice, providing support and guidance within a dynamic clinical setting. Our programs provide a strong foundation where individuals can realise early career specialisation and acquire diverse skills.

The programs, conducted over 12 months, offer graduate positions in various clinical specialties. The programs are supported and provide:

  • graduate orientation and onboarding
  • mandatory education sessions
  • sound clinical partnership and mentoring
  • supported skills acquisition
  • facilitated education forums.

We offer 12-month contracts across clinical locations within West Moreton Health. You could complete your graduate program at Ipswich Hospital; one of our rural hospitals at Boonah, Esk, Gatton and Laidley; within our Mental Health and Specialised Services division; or Prison Health Services.

On commencing with West Moreton Health, graduates are enrolled in a Speciality Transition Support Program, which they are expected to complete by the end of their graduate year. Some transition support programs may be eligible for articulation towards post-graduate studies.

We aim to develop safe, confident and competent practitioners who will seek to continue their professional development within West Moreton Health.

Information for applicants

Employment: The program is a temporary 12-month position, with the potential for participants to acquire permanency on successful completion of the program.
