Visiting Hours

General visiting hours for most wards:

  • 12 pm to 2 pm
  • 4 pm to 8 pm

Short stay, emergency, mental health and palliative care:

  • 8 am to 8 pm


  • 8 am to 12 pm for family.
  • 3.30 pm to 8 pm for all other visitors and guests.

Paediatrics (Children’s Sunshine Ward):

  • 8 am to 8 pm for parents and guardians.
  • 2 pm to 5 pm for siblings and other visitors.

Intensive care unit, coronary care unit and isolation rooms:

  • These areas are restricted to immediate family and is dependent upon the patient’s condition.
  • Visitors to these areas may be required to wear protective items, such as aprons, gloves and a mask, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients.

Ipswich Hospital is an acute health facility situated 40 kilometres west of Brisbane in Ipswich.

The hospital offers all major health specialties including anaesthetics, emergency medicine, surgery, intensive and coronary care, orthopaedics, obstetrics, paediatrics, palliative care, rehabilitation and a full range of allied health services.

Ipswich Hospital also provides a learning environment for both undergraduate and postgraduate clinical education and training.

A major expansion of Ipswich Hospital was completed in 2014, transforming the hospital into a state-of-the-art medical facility and providing additional capacity to help meet the growing health needs of the region’s population over the short- to medium-term.
