West Moreton Health board keeps focus on future

West Moreton Hospital and Health Board’s nine members will continue their role guiding health service delivery in the region.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Steven Miles announced the line-up of Queensland’s 16 hospital and health service Boards yesterday, with no changes to the West Moreton Hospital and Health Board.

The Board is chaired by Michael Willis and includes members Susan Johnson (Deputy Chair), Lynette Birnie, Professor Jeffrey Dunn AO, Patricia Evatt, Professor Gerald Holtmann, Stephen Robertson, Sue Scheinpflug and Dr Cathryn Hester.

Mr Willis said the Board would continue to focus on the safety and wellbeing of West Moreton Health staff and help steer the delivery of health services to best meet the needs of the community.

“We will continue to guide the delivery of services in the region by listening to the needs of the community – local people making local health decisions – and driving delivery of our Strategic Plan, which is to meet the health needs of the community now and in future,” Mr Willis said.

“The response by West Moreton Health staff during this unprecedented time has been exceptional and the Board joins me in thanking all staff for their huge effort to keep everyone safe.

“While staff are focused on serving the community, we are working to ensure they are supported and best equipped to do their important work.”

Mr Willis, who is also the Chair of Queensland’s Hospital and Health Board Chairs’ Forum, said it was the Board’s role to ensure the health service was meeting its performance targets and directing resources to best meet the needs of the community.

He said West Moreton Health was a leader in innovation and health reform and continued to strive to improve health care options for the West Moreton community.

“The success and wider adoption of great initiatives like the Mental Health Co-Responder Program and MeCare are great examples of how West Moreton Health is delivering on the objectives of its strategic plan.

“Importantly, we are working hard to meet the growth and demand of the region through our Master Plan project and the delivery of key infrastructure like the MRI at Ipswich Hospital has resulted in more people receiving care close to home.”
