Lockyer Valley residents now have more options to get tested for COVID-19 as Gatton Hospital opens a walk-in testing clinic onsite from Monday.
The Gatton Hospital Fever Clinic is the second West Moreton Health COVID-19 testing site that residents can go to if they need a PCR test or Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) kit.
The Court Street Fever Clinic remains open to residents at Ipswich Hospital.
Staff and patient safety were key considerations when establishing the testing tent outside at Gatton Hospital.
West Moreton Health Incident Controller Claire Barratt said Gatton Hospital continues to play a crucial role in the COVID-19 pandemic response.
“Testing lines have shrunk with the changes to close contact definitions and eligibility for Rapid Antigen Tests, but you may still experience a wait during peak times. We encourage you to bring water, dress for the weather and not arrive in the last hour of testing,” Mrs Barratt said.
“West Moreton Health staff are doing an incredible job of providing care to the community while responding to the challenges of Omicron, and I thank everyone who visits our facilities for their patience and kindness to staff.”
Gatton Hospital staff first opened a temporary fever clinic in 2020 when the Alpha strain of COVID-19 presented and has provided testing and vaccination services throughout the pandemic.
“In the past two years Gatton Hospital has continued providing high-quality care to the community, alongside testing and vaccination services for the West Moreton community.”
“Recently in response to requests from the trucking industry, the hospital began accepting drop-off self-testing PCR tests on the weekend to enable workers to get their results and get back on the road sooner.”
