Diane’s Wish

West Moreton Health was honoured to partner with Ambulance Wish Queensland, a charity program of Palliative Care Queensland, to make Diane’s Wish come true.

A self-proclaimed movie buff, Diane’s Wish was to watch Top Gun: Maverick at the cinema with her family and friends.

Ambulance Wish Queensland was able to fulfil her wish with a special VIP screening of the movie.

Acting Clinical Nurse Consultant Brittany was Diane’s Clinical Escort on the day.

“Diane was one of my dialysis patients, and when she chose to withdraw from dialysis I was one of the nurses providing her kidney supportive care, assisting with symptom management during this transition in life,” she said.

“Diane had mentioned she wanted to see Top Gun, so her Social Worker, Jess, submitted the request through Ambulance Wish QLD.”

“You could not wipe the smile from Diane's face on the day. She was surrounded by family and friends, and enjoyed some chicken, champagne and cheesecake.”

West Moreton Health Wish Service Liaison Coordinator Kylie said the Ambulance Wish program helped create lasting memories.

“The joy to patients, loved ones and staff members is a heart-warming experience to be a part of."

Special mention goes out to Ipswich Hospice Care - Queensland, Limelight Cinemas Ipswich, QAS volunteers and Ange Costes Photography, for helping to make Diane’s wish a reality.

Ambulance Wish QLD is proudly supported by the Queensland Government.
