West Moreton Health invites community members to participate in a newly formed West Moreton Health First Nations Health Equity Strategic Oversight Committee. This Committee aims to integrate the voice of First Nation peoples into West Moreton Health's service planning and service delivery including co-design of our facilities.
Hannah Bloch, Chief Executive at West Moreton Health, said the community will play the crucial role of community support in shaping health outcomes:
“We believe that through honest conversation and connection to the community, we can make a positive impact on the health outcomes of First Nations people in West Moreton”.
“It’s by bringing people together and drawing on their diverse backgrounds, knowledge, skills and experiences, that we can achieve better health outcomes for First Nation peoples.” Ms Bloch said.
“Whether it’s designing new facilities, evaluating service delivery, or creating new services, we want to ensure the needs of First Nations communities are heard and addressed.”
“Expressions of interest are now open. We’re inviting all community members with a connection to the region and a passion for improving health outcomes for First Nation peoples to apply to be a committee member. This committee will be pivotal in embedding the First Nations voice into West Moreton Health activities and will play a critical role in improving health outcomes for First Nations people” Ms Bloch said.
The committee will support the implementation of the First Nations Health Equity Strategy, 2022-2025 and work towards creating a thriving West Moreton community free from racism and discrimination where First Nation peoples achieve their best possible health and wellbeing, for employees to thrive, and for the contribution of First Nations peoples and communities to be celebrated.
