Our two year graduate program in mental health is for newly qualified:
- exercise physiologists
- occupational therapists
- psychologists
- social workers
- speech pathologists.
We’ll support you as you transition from study to professional practice. You'll learn through a mix of classroom and work-based experiences with other graduates, including:
- tutorials and practical learning sessions
- interdisciplinary training days
- discipline-specific supervision
- journal clubs.
You'll do four rotations in a range of settings and locations. These may include:
- Acute Care Team - Ipswich Hospital
- Acute Response Team – Ipswich Health Plaza
- Adult Community Care Teams – Goodna Community Health and Ipswich Health Plaza
- Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (AODS) - Ipswich Health Plaza
- Assertive Mobile Youth Outreach Team – Goodna Community Health
- Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) - Goodna Community Health Centre and Ipswich Health Plaza
- Early Psychosis Team
- Eating Disorders Specialist Service
- EVOLVE Therapeutic Service - Ipswich Health Plaza
- Gailes Community Care Unit - Gailes
- Living Well Team – Ipswich Hospital
- Mental Health Acute Inpatient Service (MHAIS) – Ipswich Hospital
- Older Persons Mental Health Service - Ipswich Health Plaza
- Forensic and Secure Services (Wacol):
- Extended Forensic Treatment and Rehabilitation Unit (inpatient service)
- High Security Inpatient Service
- Secure Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit (inpatient service)
- Mental Health, Intellectual and Developmental Disability Service
- Prison Mental Health Services
How to apply
We run the allied health graduate program every second year.
Applications open in August and September 2026 and the course begins the following February. The next course is due to start in February 2027.
Check the graduate portal for application dates and make sure you apply before the closing date.
You'll need to include your:
- resume
- cover letter
- completed graduate summary document.
Who can apply?
Our program is for graduate:
- exercise physiologists
- occupational therapists
- psychologists
- social workers
- speech pathologists.
You must also:
- have completed your degree in the past two years or due to complete it by the end of January 2027
- have the right to live and work in Australia
- be committed to working in West Moreton Health services for the two year program.
We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. A position in the program is reserved for a candidate who identifies as indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community.
