Baby Amelia Sky’s early arrival has made for a memorable new year celebration for her Goodna family.
The baby girl was born at 2.45am – the first baby born at Ipswich Hospital on 1 January 2026.
Amelia is the second daughter of proud mum, Stephanie Baker, who was thrilled to welcome a healthy baby, weighing 3460g (7lb 6 oz).
The baby girl arrived just over a week earlier than expected, making it a memorable new year celebration for her Goodna family.
Amelia’s big sister, nine-year-old Annabelle, proudly visited Ipswich Hospital hours after the birth to meet her new baby sister.
Amelia was among more than 2600 babies born at Ipswich Hospital in 2025.
Among the healthy babies were 22 sets of twins.
Each safe arrival was celebrated by our dedicated West Moreton Health team, who support families through pregnancy, birth and early childhood.
Other highlights from the year included the launch of the Jaghu Midwifery Group Practice. The specialised program delivers culturally safe, respectful care for First Nations families from conception to childbirth.
West Moreton Health also introduced a Supporting Healthier Pregnancy Initiative Clinical Midwifery Consultant to support better health outcomes for pregnant women and their children.
