More than 800 undercover car parks will be available in the Ipswich health precinct as part of West Moreton Health’s expansion project.

The proposed multi-storey Roderick Street car park, complete with electric vehicle charging stations will service patients, their families, visitors, and hospital staff.

Demolition of the W-G Hayden Humanities Centre and old Ipswich City Council administration building is underway as part of the Ipswich Hospital Expansion Project.

West Moreton is the fastest growing region in Queensland with the population expected to grow to more than 636,000 people by 2046.

Executive Director Major Capital, Service Improvement and Governance Claire Barratt said the proposed car park would support the ongoing growth of Ipswich Hospital and the community.

“The Ipswich Hospital Stage 2 Expansion will add 200 beds, six new operating theatres, a new Emergency Department and more services for our community, Ms Barratt said.

“We know there is already high demand for parking at Ipswich Hospital.”

“As the hospital expands, we need to make sure we are also meeting the car parking demands of the community.”

Construction is expected to be completed in early 2027. Community consultation on the Roderick St site was completed last year.

West Moreton Health also provides a free shuttle bus for patients, visitors and staff between Ipswich Hospital and Limestone Park in both directions. For more information visit www.westmoreton.health.qld.gov.au
