Innovation ignited at research symposium

More than 120 researchers and health professionals have gathered at the 2025 West Moreton Health (WMH) Quality Improvement and Research Symposium to celebrate and illuminate healthcare advancements in the region.

Held at Ipswich Hospital on 22 October, the third annual symposium featured 42 research presentations from WMH staff and health partners, headlined by Professor Paul Colditz and Associate Professor Nicola Warren.

Themed ‘Ignite Innovation', the symposium highlighted the broad range of research underway in the West Moreton area, on topics ranging from mental and sexual health, to patient diet and nutrition, and rehab.

  • Best Research Award: Jacob Skerman
  • Best Quality Improvement Award: Hannah Howell
  • Best Poster Award: Nicholas Duong
  • Research to Practice Award: Alice Rogers
  • Novice/Early Career Researcher: Dr Kevin Su
  • Mid-Career/Senior Researcher: A/Prof Sree Venuthurupalli
  • Research Advocate: A/Prof Tom Meehan, Penny Ganzenmuller, Kate Gadenne, and Lisa Smith.
