Ipswich Hospital Foundation funds a record $485,000 on local health care

Thanks to the generous support of the community, Ipswich Hospital Foundation (IHF), a record of over $485,000 has funded equipment and healthcare initiatives for West Moreton Health in the past 12 months.

IHF fundraising initiatives supported vital initiatives such as:

  • All the region’s public hospitals – at Ipswich, Gatton, Laidley, Esk and Boonah – through equipment purchases and building upgrades
  • Mental health initiatives and scholarships associated with the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research at Wacol
  • Improvements to patient and carer experiences
  • Scholarships for local cancer care research
  • The Ipswich Hospital Special Care Nursery through equipment purchases.

Funding was also provided to the Ipswich Hospital Museum, which reopened this month at the hospital’s Jubilee Building.

West Moreton Health Chief Executive Hannah Bloch welcomed the support of the community through IHF and the difference this will make to our locals who require healthcare.

“Our region is growing rapidly, and the equipment funded by the IHF will help ensure the community can access the health care they require without having to leave the region,” Ms Bloch said.

“Not only that, but, due to the generosity of supporters, IHF contribute in so many other ways. They help fund new services, support staff wellbeing through events and fundraising initiatives, forge mutually beneficial relationships with local organisations and businesses and invest heavily in research to improve the local delivery of healthcare.”

IHF are delighted to have had the support of individuals, community groups and companies who have given generously to several activities such as:

  • Appeals – including the Christmas Appeal and the Cancer Care Closer to Home Appeal
  • Fundraising events, including Park2Park & Go Pink for breast cancer in October
  • The sold-out Gala Dinner in April and sponsorship through partners.

Contributions also come from West Moreton Health staff, corporate and community donations, and raffles.

IHF Chief Executive Officer Scott Young said whilst these funds will make a phenomenal impact, there is more, together, as a community that we need to do.

“I am so grateful to everyone who has supported this year, you have made an exceptional difference. Yet, more funding will always be required for health and wellbeing in our area. I encourage the community to continue to make an impact,” Mr Young said.

“Every dollar counts, especially when it’s going straight back into local health care, here in our region. Please, make a tax-deductible donation if you can.”

“We also have our signature event, Park2Park, occurring in July. Register for the event, put your name down to volunteer, or set a target and fundraise to support this annual event,” he said.

IHF is a trusted community partner supporting West Moreton Health to deliver safe, quality care for the health and wellbeing of the community.
