The Prison Mental Health Service (PMHS) provides a multi-disciplinary in reach service to people who are in custody in correctional centres across southeast Queensland.

Palen Creek Correctional Centre

The Prison Mental Health Service (PMHS) provides a multi-disciplinary in reach service to people who are in custody in correctional centres across southeast Queensland. The primary goal of the PMHS is to identify those individuals who have a severe mental illness or are at risk of developing mental illness while in custody.

The PMHS provides voluntary assessment, treatment, and continuity of care for persons in correctional centres who have or may have a mental illness, including diversion of mentally ill offenders from the criminal justice system as required. Example services are delivered as part of a multidisciplinary team including Nurses, Psychiatrists, Social Workers, Psychologists, Dual Diagnosis clinicians, Indigenous Mental Health Workers, and Occupational Therapists.

Lockyer Valley Correctional Centre (LVCC)

Lockyer Valley Correctional Centre is situated in the Lockyer Valley and located approximately 18 minutes from Gatton, 30 minutes from Esk, 45minutes from Ipswich and Toowoomba. 

The Locker Valley begins less than one hour’s drive west of Brisbane and 45 minutes from Toowoomba.
